Set against the magnificent backdrop of Carrickfergus Castle the Carrickfergus Castle Triathlon promises to be a PB setting course that is both fast and flat.
The Sprint and Team Relay races both start with a 750m swim from the Castle towards Fisherman’s Quay. This is a straight-line swim in shallow water.
The cycle is a total of 20km. The Triathletes will cycle towards Belfast before turning back towards Carrickfergus and heading out into the countryside, eventually returning along the Marine Highway. The run is 5km for the Sprint and Team Relay, which is 3 laps of the promenade.
The Try a Tri starts at the same time but with a straight-line swim of only 250m. All will exit the water via the ramp next to the Fisherman’s Quay before making their way to the Transition Area for the cycle, then a 3km run, which is 2 laps of the promenade. The finish will be under the arch on Fisherman’s Quay.
